Postdoctoral positions in the Schwartz group at the University of Arizona in Tucson

The Schwartz group at the University of Arizona has one or more postdoctoral positions available. Our group is a theoretical group focusing in simulations of chemical reactions and structural transformations in biological systems. We study enzymes, and the motor proteins of cardiac muscle. In our enzyme studies we are particularly interested in the development of new methods of enzyme design that include protein dynamics. In our cardiac muscle work, we study how mutations affect the function of the cardiac thick and thin filament and lead to disease. All work employs a wide variety of simulation and modeling methodologies especially rare event methods such as Transition Path Sampling and Metadynamics.

Our group is usually comprised of about 10 pre and postdoctorals, roughly evenly divided. Postdocs need not have direct experience with the specific systems and methods, but must be capable of both analytic and computational work and be ready to learn whatever techniques they need quickly. The group is a collaborative one, and the ability to work with others is critical. Working with experimental collaborators is also a must.

Tucson is located southern Arizona is a beautiful location close to most of the major US National Parks, and it presents many options for an enjoyable lifestyle.

Please send a letter of application by email, along with a CV and the names of at least 2 references. Initially successful candidates will be invited to apply formally via the University HR website.
