Postdoctoral Position – Photoelectron Spectroscopy – University of Southampton

3.5 yr Post-Doctoral Position in Time-Resolved Photoelectron Spectroscopy

At the University of Southampton, we have a 3 and a half year funded postdoctoral position available in the area of time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy. As part of the project, you will develop time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy capabilities in Southampton using UV sources, and work with the Artemis Facility (UK) and the ELI-Beamlines facility (Czechia) to develop extreme ultraviolet probes based on high harmonic generation sources. The experiments will cover alignment frame measurements of small molecules as a study of static electronic structure, as well as dynamic measurements of the photochemical reaction of heterocyclic systems such as pyrazoles and thiophene derivatives.

You will be responsible for leading advanced photoelectron spectroscopy experiments as part of a collaborative team. You will coordinate the analysis of the data and work with our theoretical collaborators (Adam Kirrander, Oxford, Zdenek Masin, Prague) on the interpretation.

To be successful you will have a PhD (or within six months of completion) or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Physical Chemistry or Chemical Physics and a demonstrable understanding and knowledge of ultrafast laser technology and spectroscopy.

The position is available for 42 months.
