PostDoc position: Resonant Infrared Control of Electrochemical Reactions in Berlin, Germany

We are currently looking for excellent PostDoc candidates to work on resonant infrared control of electrochemical reactions.

Details on the position and the project are found in the application portal.

This new project is a collaboration between the Lattice Dynamics group within the Department of Physical Chemistry (PC), and the Interface Science (ISC) Department of the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society, Berlin, Germany. We aim to combine the expertise in nonlinear infrared optics in my group with the ISC’s electrochemistry expertise , in order to control electrochemical reactions with strong, narrow-band infrared excitation. We will employ the in-house infrared free-electron laser (FHI-FEL) to selectively excite molecular species at electrochemical interfacesin operando, in order to steer reaction rates and selectivity. To differentiate resonant excitation from non-resonant heating effects, we will combine pulsed FEL excitation with electrochemical potential modulation.

Please kindly forward this message to any potentially suitable candidates, or have them contact Alex Paarmann for any questions: alexander.paarmann@fhi-berlin.mpg.de
