Two postdoc positions are available immediately in the Yong Lab (https://sites.google.com/ucsd.edu/yong) in the Department of Chemistry at UC San Diego. The initial appointment is for two years and may be renewed upon mutual agreement. The successful candidates will contribute to the development of ultrafast X-ray scattering/diffraction techniques utilizing structured X-ray beams carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) to image ultrafast electronic and nuclear dynamics in molecules. This work is supported by funding from the W. M. Keck Foundation.
Candidates must hold (or expect to receive) a PhD degree in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics, AMO Physics, or a closely related field.
Expertise in one or multiple of the following areas is strongly preferred:
- Ultrafast X-ray scattering/spectroscopy using synchrotron or free-electron lasers
- Generation and characterization of vortex beam (or OAM beam)
- Nanofabrication of X-ray Fresnel zone plates
- Ultrafast chemical dynamics
To apply: Please email Prof. Haiwang Yong at hyong@ucsd.edu.
The application should include:
1) a brief cover letter (less than one page) summarizing previous research experiences (PDF);
2) a CV with a complete publication list (PDF); and
3) contact information for two references.
