EU RESEARCH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME
H2020 / Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions:
H2020-MSCA-ITN-765739
COSINE is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network directly addressing the need for high-level training and career paths in Theoretical/Computational Chemistry with special emphasis on Computational Spectroscopy, which has become an important scientific pillar in chemical research. COSINE aims at devising novel theoretical tools and computational codes rooted in Electronic Structure Theory for the investigation of organic photochemistry to enable accurate simulation of spectroscopic experiments on the computer.
More details on the projects and locations can be found under this link: https://sites.google.com/site/itncosine/home
We seek highly motivated, talented students with interest in theoretical and computational chemistry. Strong background in physical chemistry, quantum mechanics, theoretical chemistry and/or physics, applied mathematics or computer science is advantageous but not mandatory. A Master degree in chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, or related fields is required at the start of the Ph.D. programme, but not necessary for the application process.
The projects are generally conducted in close collaboration between two different principal investigators of COSINE in different countries, and extended stays in these groups are required. Secondments to participating industrial partners during the training program are also mandatory. Due to the regulations of this EU programme, mobility is mandatory, i.e. the candidates cannot be accepted by countries, where they have resided more than 12 months during the last three years. Feel free to indicate your preferred location and project in the application.
The recruitment procedure comprises two steps: selection by the researchers of the
network at a recruitment meeting in Heidelberg as well as the acceptance as Ph.D. student at the chosen local node. Passing both steps is mandatory.
If you are interested in working within such a stimulating, international and interdisciplinary research and training network, please send your application preferably as one single pdf-file via e-mail to: cosine@iwr.uni-heidelberg.de or to one of the principal investigators of COSINE as soon as possible but not later than the 30th of April 2018.
