Senior postdoc position (Academic Assistant, W1/E13, 3+3 years, German language proficiency) at the Wilhelm Ostwald Institute for Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University

Prof. Knut Asmis invites applications for a senior postdoc position (Academic Assistant, W1/E13, 3+3 years) at the Wilhelm Ostwald Institute for Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University starting as soon as possible.

The Asmis Group (www.uni-leipzig.de/pc1) is interested in a molecular-level understanding of the fundamental processes relevant in a wide range of topics, including, in particular, heterogeneous catalysis, ion solvation and hydrogen isotope separation. To this end, we are developing and applying state-of-the-art, cutting-edge mass spectrometric and laser spectroscopic techniques to characterize the structure, reactivity, and dynamics of clusters, nanoparticles, and fluid interfaces and how these new insights can be exploited to synthesize novel materials with tailored properties.

As a group leader, with the possibility of obtaining a habilitation, you will be responsible for independently conducting research in the field of single nanoparticle mass spectrometry and spectroscopy. Your work will be integrated in the new DFG Research Training Group «Hydrogen Isotopes 1,2,3H» (www.uni-leipzig.de/123h) and you will also participate in other research projects of the group in the field of frequency- and time-resolved spectroscopy on isolated clusters.

Requirements: German language proficiency (B1 or higher), relevant PhD in the field of physics or chemistry; profound, experimental and theoretical knowledge in the field of laser spectroscopy and mass spectrometry of gas phase ions, clusters and/or nanoparticles; long-term, experimental experience with vacuum instruments, ion optics and solid-state lasers.

Please send your application with the usual documents, quoting the reference 19/2022, by February 7, 2022 to woi@uni-leipzig.de.
