Post-doctoral Position: Computational biophysics (Dallas, USA)

The Mesoscience lab is looking for 2 post-docs to join our computational biophysics team at SMU. Positions available immediately with start dates in 2022 preferred. We have established funding for up to three years for both positions.

The successful candidate(s) will work with the team to extend our python library for simulating membrane scale excitation energy transfer and spectroscopy, or develop a new code library to simulate the electron transport chain in the crowded thylakoid environment. Our group collaborates with leading structural biology, biochemistry, and spectroscopy labs to model cutting-edge measurements in plants and green algae. We also support open science standards: all scientific code and data will be released open source with associated publications.

The ideal candidate has previous experience with either scientific coding or biophysics and is excited to work at the interface. Previous experience with photosynthesis is not required – though it is beneficial. Potential team mates who bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. For priority consideration, apply before Feb. 21, 2022.

Please send your application to Doran, including:

  • your CV,
  • a brief cover letter explaining your interest in a position,
  • a list of recommenders (with contact information), and
  • if possible, sending a GitHub link or code sample will be advantageous.
