Postdoctoral research associate position in ultrafast photobiology at the University of Bristol, UK

Applications are sought for a BBSRC funded postdoctoral research associate position to work with Dr Tom Oliver. The creating and comprehending the circuitry of life project is a collaboration between biochemists, biophysicists, computational chemists and ultrafast spectroscopists from 4 different UK institutions.

The postdoctoral research associate will work on the following aims of the multidisciplinary project: (i) assemble a new commercial ultrafast laser system to seamlessly probe photoinduced dynamics spanning 100 femtoseconds to 1 millisecond; (ii) determine the rates of photon-driven electron transfer between multiple moieties in designer proteins; (iii) elucidate the electronic energy transfer pathways between chromophores in specially tailored photoactive proteins using 2D ultrafast spectroscopies.

Applications are strongly encouraged from suitably qualified candidates from all backgrounds, especially those historically under-represented in scientific research. The School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, providing mentorship and a collegial inclusive working environment for all staff.

The advertised position is available for up to 3 years in the first instance, with the possibility for extension.

Further details about skills required for the position, and the online application process are available here. Details of the research group can be found here. Please direct informal enquiries to: tom.oliver@bristol.ac.uk.

The application deadline is 7th June 2022.
