Fall School Matter in Action! 16-17 November 2026, Santiago de Compostela (Spain)

We would like to draw your attention to the first Fall School Matter in Action!, which will take place in November 16–17, 2026, in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, sponsored by the Program in Technologies of Comunidad de Madrid, MATRIX-CM, the Spanish Network Laserlab Spain (LLS), AUSE and the Spanish Specialized Group in Ultrafast Lasers (GELUR).

The goal of the school is to provide international students and young researchers with the state-of-the-art developments on time-resolved structural science, including underlying electronic structure changes that drive the nuclear dynamics. The school will consist of Tutorial Lectures offered to the students in sessions dedicated to electron diffraction and scattering, X-ray spectroscopy, electron dynamics and high harmonic generation, non-linear extreme-ultraviolet/X-ray optics and spectroscopy, and more, and poster sessions by the students. The program includes the following experts:

  • Majed Chergui (FERMI, Italy)
  • Marcos Dantus (Michigan University, USA)
  • Wojciech Gawelda (Universität Paderborn, Germany)
  • Fernando Martín (IMDEA Nanoscience and Universidad Autónoma Madrid, Spain)

The school is celebrated in the context of the Ultrafast Science and Technology Spain (USTS 2026) Conference to be celebrated in the same campus of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) on 18-20 November 2026. We expect that all attendees to the Fall School will also attend USTS 2026.

Registration and application for scholarships are now open in the School website.
