PhD/PostDoc position in DFT/MD+Machine Learning-driven Perovskite device architectures, in ELI ALPS, Szeged, Hungary

A new Research Fellow (i.e., post doc position)/Early stage Researcher (i.e., PhD) position- available in the field of Computational and Applied Materials Science at ELI-ALPS, Szeged, Hungary.

If you are interested, write to mousumi.upadhyaykahaly@eli-alps.hu

We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher with expertise in one or more of the following fields: DFT, TDDFT simulations, Machine Learning, theoretical chemistry simulations, Multi-scale simulations, molecular ultrafast dynamics, and strong-field physics. The successful candidate will participate in scientific projects led by members of the Computational and Applied Materials Science team in the Theory & Simulations Group at ELI-ALPS. In addition to his/her contribution to designing, building, and commissioning facilities and equipment, the successful candidate is also expected to contribute to user support and user experiments at the beamlines and end-stations, in collaboration with the user teams and experimentalists.

Our team members are responsible for probing structure and photoresponse in materials through quantum chemistry simulations and understanding of ultrafast electron dynamics, in close collaboration with experiments.

We also provide simulation support for user experiments carried out in ELI-ALPS.

The duties and responsibilities of the Research Fellow/Early Stage Researcher include but are not limited active participation in the following fields:

WHO CAN APPLY?

  • Candidates interested in joining PhD program immediately (Last semester in Masters Level, or those who completed Masters level)
  • Already Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) degree holder in physics, physical chemistry, materials science, computational materials science or related field at the time of application.
  • Applications of candidates who will complete their PhD studies in the near future will also be considered.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience of DFT, TDDFT and/or Molecular Dynamics simulations, Machine Learning.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in a team, in close collaboration with experiments.
  • Good English communication skills (verbal and written) are a must.

The following qualifications are of advantage:

  • Hands-on experience with molecular ultrafast dynamics, strong-field physics, high-harmonic generation, theoretical quantum chemistry, high-performance computing.
  • Good knowledge of Mathematics and Quantum physics.
  • Good programming skills.

We offer an exciting scientific environment in a new European research institute that covers a broad scope of scientific areas and is equipped with unique laser infrastructure. ELI-ALPS offers competitive salaries in regional comparison. The city of Szeged provides pleasant living conditions.

About ELI- ALPS:
The Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) https://www.eli-alps.hu/ project is an integral part of the European plan to build the next generation of large research facilities identified and selected by the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). ELI is the first infrastructure in the world able to investigate interactions between light and matter with the highest intensity. ELI will have a considerable impact on numerous fields of materials science, medicine and environmental protection. The primary mission of the ELI-ALPS Szeged research facility is to make a wide range of ultrafast light sources accessible to user groups in the international scientific community.
