Assistant or Associate Professor Faculty Position in Computational and Theoretical Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor faculty position in the research area of computational and theoretical chemistry (http://artsci.case.edu/faculty-searches/). The ideal candidate will develop and use theoretical chemistry and computational modeling approaches to address foundational and practical questions about molecular structure and function, energetics, spectroscopy, reaction kinetics, and their impact in larger biological and/or synthetic molecules and materials. The study of interfaces of these systems with small molecules will also be considered.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally visible research program supported by external funding and will contribute to teaching undergraduate and graduate levels courses that involve physical and other areas of chemistry. The normal teaching load for faculty with active research programs is one course per semester plus ancillary duties. A Ph.D., research publications, and postdoctoral (or comparable industrial) experience are required. Applications from candidates with established research programs may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
This position is related to recent Departmental and University strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will thus be expected to establish collaborations with either or both of the major strategic areas of research within the department (a) Energy and Materials and (b) Chemical Biology. Furthermore, opportunities across campus and at nearby institutions afford possible additional collaborations.
To be considered, a letter of application, CV, a summary of research plans, and three letters of recommendation should be submitted online https://apply.interfolio.com/55637 before November 9, 2018 (the online application will guide you through the process of obtaining the letters of recommendation). Applicants wishing consideration at above the Assistant Professor level should also submit a synopsis of past research accomplishments as well as a record of current, pending, and past funding.
