A Postdoctoral position as well as a PhD position are available in the
ERC-funded project AQUACHIRAL within the Liquid Microjets Group (PI: Bernd
Winter) at the Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Berlin.
In your work, you will demonstrate the influence of the handedness of
solvated organic molecules (amino acids, sugars) on their photoemission
properties, thus establishing a novel technique, liquid-phase photoelectron
circular dichroism (PECD), for research on chirality in aqueous solutions.
We expect candidates to have a:
* degree in Physics or Chemistry (MSc level), * strong experimental
background,
* willingness to participate in beamtimes at synchrotron radiation
facilities
outside of Berlin.
For the Postdoc position, additionally
* a PhD degree in a relevant field as well as a strong publication record
are
mandatory and
* previous experience with short-pulse lasers would be a strong plus.
The Fritz-Haber-Institut offers an international environment with excellent
conditions for research in chemical physics, molecular physics and
catalysis.
We seek to fill both positions by January 1, 2021. The PhD position will be
funded over three years. The Postdoc position will initially be for two
years, with the possibility of extension.
